Pat Bernatz’s Home in Lincoln Heights, East Los Angeles

Architect Pat Bernatz first confirmed up on my radar again in 2020, after I got here throughout his pitch-perfect, trend-proof redesign of an outdated Arts & Crafts-style home in Los Angeles for a shopper. The restoration of his 1890 home has all of the hallmarks of his prior challenge—quiet interiors, good-looking window shutters, modest proportions, pure supplies, a heat palette, all interpreted in an “Outdated California” fashion—nevertheless it has the additional benefit of gorgeous views.
