Impressed by traditional New England people artists like Moses Eaton, whose whimsical motifs embellished the partitions of many a Northeast farmhouse, our personal Justine Hand created a modernized, tone-on-tone block-print tea towel. The designs work on kitchen linens, napkins, lampshades, shams… and make an enthralling host reward, too.

Provides
Cotton or linen tea towel, washed and ironed
Masking or painter’s tape
Stencil adhesive
Moses Eaton stencil (obtainable from mbhistoricdecor.com)
Textile paint
Shallow dish for paint
Giant flat-tipped paintbrush or sponge
Paper towel
Iron
Step 1
Above: Lay a towel flat over a protected floor and safe the corners with tape. Ensure that the material is taut. In a well-ventilated work house, spray the reverse facet of your stencil with a lightweight coat of adhesive, which can preserve the stencil in place whilst you work and cease paint from working below it.
