The Hideout is just reachable by boat in summer season and skis in winter, when the mountain lake it overlooks is frozen. And when you don’t know the place to look, you’ll doubtless miss it. Which is precisely what the homeowners need.

Ole, Astrid, and Olav of Norwegian structure studio Gartnerfuglen collaborated with Spanish architect Mariana de Delás on this magical, unassuming retreat within the Telemark area of southern Norway. They had been commissioned by the homeowners of the farm throughout the lake, who for generations had fished, swum, and camped within the space in solitude. Of late, clarify the architects, “resulting from allemannsretten, the Norwegian regulation of public proper of entry, one can not count on to be alone right here.”

The worldwide design workforce initially met whereas working in architect Bijoy Jain’s Studio Mumbai. “Since then, we attempt to be a part of forces for initiatives that sit between artwork and structure,” says Delás.
