I recently heard that the “Elbphilharmonie” is supposed to be Post Modernism..??? Can someone explain why..? for me it feels like something more contemporary… : architecture

There is a distinction between describing one thing as “postmodern”–that is, being of the postmodern interval (about 1970 to now)–and describing it as “Postmodernist”. The label “Postmodernist” often refers back to the historicism of the Seventies to Nineties related to architects like Michael Graves, Robert Venturi and Philip Johnson.

So, the Elbphilharmonie is postmodern however not Postmodernist.
