This 1½ acre backyard was created inside a former working farmyard and outbuildings of a farm in Somerset. The unique Seventeenth-century farmhouse in-built native Somerset stone and a few of the unique stables and farm buildings had been being reworked right into a six-bedroom household home. Outbuildings had been taken all the way down to create a big space between the home and the present swimming pool, perfect for a walled backyard. Charlotte Rowe Backyard Design was commissioned to design and re-landscape the entire web site together with the walled backyard, a potager/vegetable backyard, an orchard, a brand new drive, automobile parking areas and the broader panorama.
All the things you would need in a centuries previous farmhouse backyard. I like that there’s delicate construction and repetition within the plantings (ie. the English lavender) of the backyard beds. It seems wild however purposeful.
