CAS is a minimal studio and gallery situated in New Canaan, Connecticut, designed by Cas Friese. Friese, who focuses on one-of-a-kind photographic works and large-scale, limited-edition prints, was impressed by each her surroundings and expertise when designing the house.
Following an entire renovation, the design speaks to references from California, Scandinavia, and coastal New England. Pure gentle cascades from giant glazings and skylights to light up onto white painted wood flooring. Rigorously curated items, comparable to these by Faye Toogood and Eero Saarinen, accompany the minimalist design.
When describing her gallery, Friese explains, “I really feel an incredible connection between the paintings and design of the house during which it lives…my objective is to create an expertise that’s immersive – from the furnishings to the music, perfume, and conversations – all of them contribute to the entire story of my work.”
