The constructing at 55 East Cordova, a former relic of sand-blasted brick and old-growth timber, was a 150,000 sf warehouse inbuilt 1909 by architect Edward Evans Blackmore in downtown Vancouver, B.C. It housed {hardware} and constructing provides for a large-scale importer and distributor and was conveniently situated subsequent to the CP Rail terminus station. Virtually 100 years later in 2004, the expansive warehouse was transformed into live-work loft areas, with the brick and fir beam building uncovered maintaining the character of the constructing intact.
A lover of musical genres from acoustical to digital, our consumer wished an area that would broaden and contract for internet hosting different music lovers. The floorplan labored rather well so we centered our efforts on updating the finishes to replicate his desire for daring color and sample. Just a few drained areas have been rebuilt and we curated an eclectic combine of recent and classic furnishings and treasures. The consumer’s curiosity in music and artwork was the inspiration on which we added layers of depth and authenticity.
Loving all of the uncovered industrial bits – each loft wants uncovered brick, wood beamed ceiling, pipes and enormous home windows, and hardly any partitions. This one is all that and a bag of chips. Designed by Falken Reynolds. Photographs: Ema Peter.
