The fourth version of Cult’s esteemed Chairity Venture invitations main Australian creatives to reinterpret an iconic chair design. The ultimate items will probably be exhibited nationwide and offered at public sale, with all proceeds donated to a choice of charities.
After a five-year hiatus, Cult is thrilled to re-introduce the Chairity venture, partnering with one of many quickest rising Danish design manufacturers on this planet – Hay.
From 2014 to 2016, Cult invited creatives to reinterpret the CH33 by Hans Wegner for Carl Hansen and Son, the Sequence 7 by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen, and the Officina chair by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec for Magis.
For Chairity Venture 2022, Cult has invited 18 creatives from industrial design, structure, inside, artwork, scent, ceramics and graphic design backgrounds to reimagine Hay’s iconic Consequence Chair – a Nineteen Fifties design by Friso Kramer and Wim Rietveld.
With Melbourne Design Week because the launchpad for Chairity Venture 2022, the artistic transient has been aligned with Melbourne Design Week’s theme of “Design the world you need,” which prompts the query: “How can we collectively work in direction of a greater, more healthy future?”
Cult is happy to welcome again two creatives who’ve participated in earlier editions of the Chairity Venture – industrial designer Adam Goodrum and graphic design duo Design by Toko – together with 16 new contributors – Arnsdorf, Yasmine Ghoniem, Kelvin Ho, Claire Delmar, Craig Andrade, Retallack Thompson, Anna Carin, Tom Fereday, Zachary Hanna, Alexandra Donohoe Church, Sample Studio, Shelley Simpson, Use Each day, Heather Nette King, Evi-O and William Sensible.
The variety of creatives collaborating within the venture will lead to a variety of chair reinventions and an attractive public sale, which is able to happen on-line between 17 March and three April.
To mark the net public sale opening, the ultimate designs will probably be exhibited at Cult Design Melbourne throughout Melbourne Design Week, from 17 to twenty March. The exhibition will then be displayed on the new Hay Sydney retailer from 28 March to three April, with the net public sale closing Sunday 3 April at 7 pm AEST.
